Thinking about relocating to Caledonia from Los Angeles

First post here. I'm a 54-year-old electrician and It's a a smaller city city with about 25,292 people. Poverty rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Looking forward to hearing from you all. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in North. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in government. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Feel free to reach out with questions..
