Been living here since 2013. You can expect to pay around $1,505 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Calera sits at 376.5 per 100K. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. What are your go-to spots? Appreciate any input.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Pine Hills. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
