Hey, Been living here since 2010. With a population of 38,476, Calexico is a smaller city. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

I've lived in Oak Park for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Four distinct seasons
- The dating scene scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I work in legal here and it exceeded my expectations. The job market for my field is average. No regrets on my end..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely excellent and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Sunset) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
