How is California City for outdoor activities?

Hello, Poverty rate is 22.6%, which is higher than I expected. Rent is about $1,016/month for a decent place. It's a a small town city with about 14,821 people. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. Has anyone dealt with this? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Charlotte about 11 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are wild, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to Houston it's solid.
