California is underrated, change my mind

Anyone else feel this way? I'm retired and Homes are going for about $337,900 on average. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What neighborhoods would you suggest? The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Springfield area are decent. Kids love it here.
