Been meaning to ask this. I've been here for 9 years and You can expect to pay around $1,805 for rent here. The median home value here is around $337,900, which seems about average. Median household income is $112,717, which feels pretty solid for the area. Homes are going for about $337,900 on average. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Any help is appreciated. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

I've been living here for 2 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The cultural scene is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a data analyst, 30, moved here 8 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in Highland and Downtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The dating scene situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for remote workers. average vibes, walkable.
- Downtown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $50K-$90K here.
**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely pretty good and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Uptown) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The nightlife is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely decent and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (West) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Sunset. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in real estate. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
