Best restaurants in California?

Curious what people think. I'm a nurse at the local hospital and The unemployment rate is 6.8%, which is concerning. Household incomes average around $49,500 in California. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Any advice would be great. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from Atlanta about 4 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are pricey, gas is excellent.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Feel free to reach out with questions..
