Hey, Median household income is $53,991, which feels on the lower side for the area.

The food scene here is average. Tons of great Vietnamese places. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 11 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Lakewood for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries
- The walkability scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Winters are long and cold
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from Baltimore about 5 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are pricey, gas is tough.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Hope this helps!.

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 14 years here, that's my honest assessment.
