I'm retired and Average temperature is around 56--F, so the weather is moderate. Median household income is $108,315, which feels pretty solid for the area. The median home value here is around $468,600, which is pretty steep. Rent is about $2,208/month for a decent place. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Looking forward to hearing from you all. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a physical therapist, 58, moved here 6 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Lakewood and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Nice parks and green spaces
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Rising rent and home prices
3. The housing market situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Lakewood: Great for remote workers. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
