Pros and cons of Camano after 6 years

OK so Crime rate is something to consider -Camano sits at 210.1 per 100K. The median home value here is around $600,300, which is pretty steep. Average temperature is around 49--F, so expect cold winters. Poverty rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Thoughts? The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Maple Ridge for 5 years. Moved from San Diego for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
manufacturing is strong here. marketing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Chain restaurants dominate. And community vibe can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 6/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to LA it's solid.

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 11 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 3 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into running, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

I've been here 9 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.
