With a population of 70,244, Camarillo is a smaller city. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I've been here 7 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely challenging and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (West) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Old Town. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in finance. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
No regrets on my end..
