Is Camas a good place to live?

Hey, Household incomes average around $140,053 in Camas. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. What do you all think?

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've lived in Midtown for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Close to major attractions
- The cost of living scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Dating scene is rough
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in West. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in government. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 11 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

The food scene here is hit or miss. Tons of great Southern places. I genuinely enjoy living here.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

I'm a lawyer and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is underrated and there's always something going on.
