So, My partner and I are You can expect to pay around $1,900 for rent here. Poverty rate is 4.1%, which is pretty low. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Bought a house here in 2024 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. food scene used to be much growing but now it's solid.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a accountant who relocated here from Boston about 15 years ago. The main reasons were family and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good airport with direct flights
- Strong sense of community
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Urban sprawl is real
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are developing, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
