Just moved to Cambridge, any tips?

Anyone else feel this way? It's a a mid-size city city with about 118K people. Should I be concerned? TIA!

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Uptown. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Atlanta about 11 years ago. The main reasons were work and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong sense of community
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are stable, gas is improving.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Portland it's challenging.
