How much do you pay for rent in Camden?

Alright, I've been here for 15 years and The median home value here is around $100,400, which is actually reasonable. With a population of 71,471, Camden is a smaller city. Median household income is $40,450, which feels on the lower side for the area. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What would you do? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in East. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Hot take but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely improving and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 2 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if cultural scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
