Best neighborhoods in Camden

Hi all, Homes are going for about $113,000 on average. Median household income is $51,250, which feels on the lower side for the area. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Am I wrong here?

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 3 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely improving and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Highland) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Dallas about 6 years ago. The main reasons were work and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are wild, gas is challenging.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Good luck with whatever you decide..

My experience has been mostly positive. I'm still on the fence after all this time. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..

Bought a house here in 2020 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want safety, then yeah this place is great. But if community vibe matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is challenging in most areas.

Bought a house here in 2018 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone up significantly since then.
