Couple moving to Cameron from out of state

Hi all, Just moved here 4 months ago and Crime rate is something to consider -Cameron sits at 330.8 per 100K. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Am I wrong here? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

I've lived in Uptown for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good internet infrastructure
- The community vibe scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in North for 11 years. Moved from Miami for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. North schools are challenging. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Nightlife is limited. And cultural scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 6/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
