Hey folks, I'm single, late 30s, and Rent is about $2,947/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Camp Pendleton South sits at 374.5 per 100K. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. What are your go-to spots? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a project manager, 53, moved here 7 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in Springfield and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Not very walkable outside downtown
3. The housing market situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Springfield: Great for families. decent vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $80K-$150K here.
**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

My experience has been mostly positive. I genuinely enjoy living here. The only thing I'd watch out for is dating scene. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in Fairview area are underrated. Kids love it here.

I've been living here for 2 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The cultural scene is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..
