Campton Hills quality of life -am I missing something?

Hey folks, The unemployment rate is 4.1%, which is about average. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Am I overthinking this? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in South. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Austin about 7 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Active local events and festivals
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are stable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 11 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Used to live on the Old Town side, now on the Oak Park side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.
