Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.

I'm a chef and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. The community is pretty good and there's always something going on.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Phoenix about 15 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Close to major attractions
- Affordable housing options
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are growing, gas is pretty good.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Maple Ridge for 15 years. Moved from Houston for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Not very walkable outside downtown. And food scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 5/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Miami about 9 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Close to major attractions
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Rising rent and home prices

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are reasonable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Definitely worth checking out..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a social worker, 50, moved here 8 years ago from Austin. I've lived in Highland and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The healthcare situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for young professionals. solid vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
