Best neighborhoods to rent in Canandaigua?

OK so Been living here since 2023. The unemployment rate is 2.4%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,093/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $63,268 in Canandaigua. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Has anyone dealt with this? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've lived in Westside for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The dating scene scene is tough

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited high-paying job options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Atlanta about 15 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Decent public transit for the size

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Summers can be brutally hot

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is underrated.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely solid and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to Portland it's hit or miss.

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.
