Canandaigua quality of life -am I missing something?

Hey, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and The unemployment rate is 2.4%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $63,268 in Canandaigua. The median home value here is around $218,300, which is actually reasonable. It's a a small town city with about 10,542 people. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Anyone in a similar situation? The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely improving and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely underrated and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

I'm a HR manager and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. The community is average and there's always something going on.
