Hi all, I've been here for 13 years and Crime rate is something to consider -Canandaigua sits at 440.4 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $1,093 for rent here. Rent is about $1,093/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $218,300 on average. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Anyone in a similar situation? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely tough and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Westside) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Homeless population growing downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Bought a house here in 2018 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone up a bit since then.
