Moving to Canandaigua -what should I know?

I'm a remote worker and With a population of 10,542, Canandaigua is a small town. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What neighborhoods would you suggest? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from New York about 13 years ago. The main reasons were family and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are reasonable, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Tampa about 3 years ago. The main reasons were school and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Four distinct seasons
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are developing, gas is pretty good.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.
