Random thought, With a population of 5,459, Candlewick Lake is a small town. It's a a small town city with about 5,459 people. Homes are going for about $169,200 on average. Rent is about $1,539/month for a decent place. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. What neighborhoods would you suggest? The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a pharmacist, 48, moved here 10 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in Eastside and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The healthcare situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Eastside: Great for families. tough vibes, walkable.
- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$110K here.
**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 2 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in Fairview area are better than expected. Kids love it here.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is average in most areas.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much affordable but now it's underrated.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Baltimore about 15 years ago. The main reasons were work and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. No regrets on my end..

Came here for work and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The community vibe is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
