Just moved to Cannon AFB, any tips?

Alright, I'm retired and Median household income is $67,132, which feels about average for the area. Poverty rate is 9.2%, which is pretty low. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Anyone in a similar situation? Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely improving and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (West) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in Maple Ridge area are excellent. Kids love it here.
