Weekend activities in Canterwood?

Hi all, Crime rate is something to consider -Canterwood sits at 213.1 per 100K. Homes are going for about $853,500 on average. The unemployment rate is 1.8%, which is pretty low. It's a a small town city with about 2,964 people. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Is this normal for Canterwood? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Bought a house here in 2024 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The public transit is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Minneapolis about 13 years ago. The main reasons were weather and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good healthcare facilities
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is tough.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a contractor, 53, moved here 12 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Old Town and Pine Hills, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Lots of new development happening
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not a lot of cultural diversity
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The community vibe situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for remote workers. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Pine Hills: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $60K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
