Just moved here 11 months ago and Median household income is $34,812, which feels on the lower side for the area. The median home value here is around $111,800, which is actually reasonable. The suburbs are where most families end up. Does this match your experience? TIA! It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Weather-wise, the summers are surprisingly good and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in Riverside for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The cultural scene scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Came here for weather and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The public transit is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
