What to expect moving to Canton?

Hey, I'm retired and Median household income is $39,754, which feels on the lower side for the area. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cheers. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is decent in most areas.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a lawyer, 45, moved here 4 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in East and Oak Park, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Close to major attractions
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Limited high-paying job options
3. The outdoor recreation situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for singles. improving vibes, walkable.
- Oak Park: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've been living here for 5 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The healthcare is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The cost of living is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..
