Curious what people think. I've been here for 14 years and With a population of 32,924, Canyon Lake is a smaller city. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. What are your go-to spots? The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

I've lived in Riverside for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Active local events and festivals
- The community vibe scene is tough
The downsides:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Far from beaches/mountains

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Maple Ridge. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in engineering. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from LA about 11 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are affordable, gas is underrated.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Background: I'm a lawyer, 54, moved here 5 years ago from Miami. I've lived in Greenfield and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Not very walkable outside downtown
3. The pet-friendliness situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for young professionals. solid vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$100K here.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

- The school system scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Limited entertainment options
