Day-to-day life in Canyon, TX

Hi all, The unemployment rate is 1.2%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $975 for rent here. It's a a small town city with about 15,398 people. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Let me know your thoughts. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

My experience has been mostly positive. the quality of life is solid. The only thing I'd watch out for is community vibe. Other than that, Good luck with whatever you decide..

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Used to live on the Riverside side, now on the Oak Park side. Completely different vibe. it's been a really good experience overall.

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in Uptown for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The pet-friendliness scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited high-paying job options

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely excellent and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Riverside) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
