Moving to Cañon City -what should I know?

Hey everyone, I'm single, late 50s, and With a population of 17,098, Ca--on City is a small town. Household incomes average around $66,068 in Ca--on City. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Am I wrong here? Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely pretty good and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Fairview) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Midtown for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Active local events and festivals
- The weather scene is tough

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. No regrets on my end..
