Anyone else feel this way? Born and raised here. Rent is about $1,156/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Cape Canaveral sits at 846.0 per 100K. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Came here for weather and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The nightlife is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is community vibe. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Austin about 11 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong sense of community
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are affordable, gas is challenging.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in Highland for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Diverse dining options
- The housing market scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Chain restaurants dominate
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The weather scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 15 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Portland about 14 years ago. The main reasons were weather and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Close to major attractions
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is excellent.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Hope this helps!.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.
