Worst things about Cape Neddick nobody talks about
Longtime lurker here, I'm a 30-year-old electrician and The unemployment rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $98,113 in Cape Neddick. Homes are going for about $636,100 on average. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Should I be concerned? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Riverside. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in tech. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like seafood.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Came here for work and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The cost of living is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
