Curious what people think. With a population of 2,881, Capitanejo comunidad is a small town. Average temperature is around 80--F, so it's warm year-round. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Tampa about 13 years ago. The main reasons were weather and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are affordable, gas is better than expected.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in North. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like seafood.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cultural scene. it's not perfect but it works for me. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a sales manager, 52, moved here 10 years ago from LA. I've lived in Maple Ridge and Highland, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Growing food and restaurant scene
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The outdoor recreation situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Maple Ridge: Great for couples. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Highland: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from LA, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $40K-$150K here.
**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Nashville it's excellent.

I've lived in North for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good airport with direct flights
- The dating scene scene is average
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value safety, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely underrated and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Midtown) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Denver about 7 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Active local events and festivals
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are reasonable, gas is pretty good.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
