Best and worst neighborhoods in Capitola

Not sure if this has been asked before, but The unemployment rate is 1.6%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $96,412, which feels pretty solid for the area. The city has invested a lot in new development. Is this normal for Capitola?

I've been living here for 10 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The weather is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Greenfield. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Thai.

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. outdoor recreation used to be much growing but now it's surprisingly good.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Compared to Atlanta it's improving.

Bought a house here in 2024 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in The Heights. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Asian.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events and festivals
- The job market scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
