Anyone else love living in Carencro?

Hey everyone, I've been here for 2 years and Crime rate is something to consider -Carencro sits at 362.2 per 100K. It's a a small town city with about 10,882 people. Median household income is $70,217, which feels about average for the area. Homes are going for about $211,200 on average. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Growing food scene
- Good internet infrastructure
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Not very walkable
- High property taxes
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Far from major airports
Appreciate any input. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 1 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've lived in Eastside for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good internet infrastructure
- The outdoor recreation scene is average

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I genuinely enjoy living here.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Sunset for 8 years. Moved from Charlotte for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is average - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Sunset schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Urban sprawl is real. And nightlife can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 7/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
