Living in Carencro -the reality

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a college student here and The unemployment rate is 1.5%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $924/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $211,200, which is actually reasonable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from San Francisco about 5 years ago. The main reasons were weather and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are stable, gas is better than expected.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Feel free to reach out with questions..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is solid in most areas.
