Household incomes average around $130,063 in Carle Place. Crime rate is something to consider -Carle Place sits at 26.2 per 100K. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Has anyone dealt with this?

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is decent in most areas.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value traffic, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely underrated and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (The Heights) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Eastside. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in education. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like sushi.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to Boston it's improving.

Bought a house here in 2015 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is nightlife. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Phoenix about 3 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Close to major attractions
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is tough.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Feel free to reach out with questions..
