Is it worth buying in Carlisle?

Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. Median household income is $59,742, which feels about average for the area. The unemployment rate is 2.7%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Carlisle sits at 195.0 per 100K. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Thoughts? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 12 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Fairview for 5 years. Moved from New York for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is average - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Fairview schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Limited entertainment options. And nightlife can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 9/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 9 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Came here for work and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The safety is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've been here 3 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..
