Day-to-day life in Carlsbad, NM

Random thought, Been living here since 2019. Household incomes average around $78,277 in Carlsbad. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What are your go-to spots? Cheers. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely underrated and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Riverside) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I have mixed feelings honestly. Good luck with whatever you decide..
