Hey, I've been here for 20 years and Rent is about $1,595/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $84,376 in Carmichael. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cultural scene. it exceeded my expectations. Worth doing your research before committing.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a accountant who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 13 years ago. The main reasons were family and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is improving.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I'm a chef and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. The community is hit or miss and there's always something going on.
