Housing market in Carmichael — is it worth buying?

Median home value here is around $541,500. Prices are steep but there are pockets of affordability. For those renting, typical rent is $1595.

Is now a good time to buy in Carmichael? Or better to keep renting?

Looking for opinions from both homeowners and renters.

Weather is the biggest factor for us. Four seasons are nice, not too extreme either way.

Don't sleep on Old Town. It's up and coming and still affordable.

I'd add that healthcare options are better than most cities this size. Otherwise spot on!

Totally agree with this. I've been here 9 years and my experience is very similar.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Northside and Downtown are perfectly safe.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Eastside and Old Town are perfectly safe.

Great post! One thing I'd mention is drive around neighborhoods at different times before committing. Makes a big difference.

Public transit needs work but they're investing in it. Should improve in next few years.
