Moving to Carmichael with kids -good idea?

Been meaning to ask this. I'm a college student here and Rent is about $1,595/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $84,376 in Carmichael. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 9 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Austin about 2 years ago. The main reasons were weather and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is better than expected.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.

Used to live on the Oak Park side, now on the Maple Ridge side. Completely different vibe. the quality of life is solid.
