So, I'm originally from Tampa and Homes are going for about $168,800 on average. Crime rate is something to consider -Carnegie sits at 332.1 per 100K. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. What do you all think? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Came here for my partner's job and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The healthcare is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 6 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

Bought a house here in 2021 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone down slightly since then.
