Anyone regret moving to Carney?

Anyone else feel this way? Crime rate is something to consider -Carney sits at 1,338.5 per 100K. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Thoughts? The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Atlanta about 3 years ago. The main reasons were weather and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good airport with direct flights
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are pricey, gas is underrated.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in The Heights. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in finance. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Meadowbrook. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in government. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 12 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 9 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Pine Hills for 14 years. Moved from Tampa for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. education is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is improving - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Pine Hills schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Limited high-paying job options. And job market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 9/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
