Carney is underrated, change my mind

Random thought, Born and raised here. Household incomes average around $84,619 in Carney. It's a a smaller city city with about 28,624 people. With a population of 28,624, Carney is a smaller city. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Anyone in a similar situation? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in The Heights. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in tech. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Public transit is hit or miss here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.

I'm a real estate agent and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community is pretty good and there's always something going on.

I work in finance here and I have mixed feelings honestly. The job market for my field is solid. Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Uptown. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in marketing. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Asian.

No regrets on my end..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a physical therapist, 40, moved here 13 years ago from Boston. I've lived in South and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The public transit situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for remote workers. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Boston, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $80K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
