What to expect moving to Carney?

Anyone else feel this way? I'm a 38-year-old data analyst and The median home value here is around $299,200, which seems about average. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Is this normal for Carney? The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from San Diego about 15 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is improving.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Miami about 8 years ago. The main reasons were work and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are wild, gas is underrated.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Sunset) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
