Is Carolina Forest worth moving to in 2026?

So, Rent is about $1,567/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $1,567 for rent here. The unemployment rate is 5.3%, which is about average. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Anyone in a similar situation? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 9 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've lived in Oak Park for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Affordable housing options
- The nightlife scene is improving

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to San Diego it's improving.
