Considering Carpentersville vs Minneapolis -help me decide
First post here. Homes are going for about $225,200 on average. With a population of 37,544, Carpentersville is a smaller city. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Anyone in a similar situation? Any help is appreciated. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 8 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. No regrets on my end..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want weather, then yeah this place is great. But if school system matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
